Overview
It was a cool October day in Brooklyn, NY and Mary & Lionel were excited to be wed at the Africa House. They did a “first look” at Prospect Park overlooking a body of water… symbolic of purification, protection, and healing. They were also joined by their bridal party for some fun and excitable pics before heading over to their celebration.
In the interim, guests sipped and waited with a glass of champagne and the officiant who was the coolest, entertained everyone with a few jokes, until their arrival.
Mary & Lionel did all the norms at their ceremony and reception, but what was awesome was that they shared a huge commonality and love from their African/Jamaican roots, which is music and dance. Before the cake was cut, the African drummers and dancers entered the dance floor and so did Mary & Lionel who were not shy to “drop leg.” They and all their guests danced the night away!
At one month before their wedding date, UR Event by Shaune provided a UR Month of Planning service. This wedding was more of a DIY, which included us transforming the same space from their ceremony to their reception celebration. It was a lot of work, but we were very pleased when Mary said, “it was memorable and stress free.”
